14 Days to Show Yourself Some Love!

With our attention spans growing shorter and our lives getting more frenzied by the minute, taking time for ourselves everyday can be quite the challenge. With the “Day Of Love” already approaching, I want to challenge you to show yourself some love everyday for 14 days. My Challenge for you is to take time to nurture your body, mind, and soul everyday without allowing feelings of regret or guilt to come over you.  Here are some of my suggestions to show yourself the love:

1. Take time to let it go. 

Take some time to let go of the pain, regrets, and past you may be holding onto. To move forward in life, you need to truly let go, and forgive yourself. Everything that has happened was brought to teach you something. Vow to let yourself learn from experience and forgive.

2. Say No!

Our Days are constantly filled with obligations, hesitations, and promises. For one day, don’t let someone add to the stress…Say No! Respect yourself enough to say no when someone tries to fill your time with more stuff that you don’t want to do or don’t have the time for.

3. Do something you loved as a kid

Take time from the mundane, and let yourself enjoy something that made you happy as a kid.  It can be as simple as renting your favorite movie as a kid, jumping on a trampoline, or even eating those popsicles with the jokes on the stick.

4. Try something New

Try anything! You could take a different route to work or school, try that yoga class your best friend has been begging you to do, or even experience a new restaurant.

5. Give Yourself Flowers

You dont need to wait for someone to buy you flowers; show you love and appreciate yourself by buying them for yourself.

6. Make no Assumptions

Assuming things can only lead to misunderstandings and even arguments. Commit to a day of making no assumptions, and giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.

7. Create a vision board and allow yourself to dream big

A lot of people today have not only forgotten how to dream, but have allowed themselves to give it up completely. Most people feel that if it is a dream, it will never happen so why think about the “what-ifs” and “could-bes”, but allowing yourself to dream opens doors and possibilities, as well as gives you insight into what motivates and drives you.  Despite being a horrible singer and never singing in front of anyone, I still dream of being on stage and winning a grammy award; I am ok, maybe eve a little relieved, with knowing that probably wont ever happen, but its fun to dream. Allow yourself today to dream the impossible; use your creativity and imagination, and just enjoy the “What-Ifs”.

8. Challenge yourself

Most life lessons and journeys through self-discovery happen when you are challenged. Look back at any difficult situation you faced and see how far you’ve come and grown from it. Take today and challenge yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually.  Do something you always thought you couldnt do.

9. Random act of Kindness

Do something nice today for someone with no expectation to get anything back.

10. Take NOTHING Personally

This is probably the hardest challenge to take on; yet it is the most rewarding. Everyone lives and takes action within their own realities. Nothing someone does or says to you is personal; it is purely based on what they know and perceive. Challenge yourself to not take anything personal.

11. Read a book

You know that thing with pages of paper and words on it? Dig out one of your favorite books, and read with no distractions. Turn off the T.V., phone, and Facebook and take time to relax with a good book.

12. Make a list of 5 things you love about yourself

We are all guilty at some point or another of  focusing on all our imperfections and negative qualities. Take time to write down the positives, and the things you truly love about yourself.

13. Take yourself on a date

Enjoy the best company you know…Yourself…and treat yourself to dinner and a movie.

14. Tell someone you appreciate them

Sometimes its hard to tell people that you appreciate all that they do; but the fact is we all want to be loved, listened to, and appreciated. Make someones day, whether it be a teacher, co-worker, or even the drive thru lady, by telling them you appreciate what they do.
